Like every year, Nikos Kazantzakis Museum participated in the celebration of the 2023 International Museum Day which was based on the subject “Museums, Sustainability and Quality of Life”. Taking advantage of the fact that the Museum is located in Myrtia, a characteristic landscape of the Cretan hinterland, it organized an awareness-raising activity concerning the environmental protection, well-being, volunteering and personal evolution.
The activity took place on Sunday, May 28, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It included brief speeches by volunteer groups which are active in the above sectors and, afterwards, a walking excursion to clean the Museum’s surrounding area and the nearby hiking route of Neraidospilios (“Cave of the Fairies”, Hiking hours 3, Hiking Difficulty Level 1).
Participant volunteer groups were the following:
1) A.T.A.CH.T.O.I.
2) Zoforos
3) Kennel of Heraklion
4) Greek Girl Scouts
5) Filios Zeus
The Museum’s activity was supported by the Cultural Association of Myrtia and the Cultural Association of Astraki “O Neraidospilios”, whereas the health care coverage of the activity was undertaken by the “Filios Zeus” Volunteer Group.
