Reach what you cannot

Classes:

Kindergarten & Primary School 1st grade

Duration:

60’

With Nikos Kazantzakis’ personal objects and following the tactile route of the Museum’s Permanent Exhibition, we realize what visual impairment is, as well as the ways by which people with visual impairment face the difficulties of everyday life. Guided by our senses, we tour the Museum (MNK) and we understand the way visually impaired people “see” inside the museum spaces.

Goals

Children are encouraged to:

  • Discover information about the life and work of Nikos Kazantzakis through the tactile route of the MNK Permanent Exhibition.
  • Gather information about visual impairment and the techniques of accompanying a visually impaired person.
  • Experience what it is like for a visually impaired person to visit the Museum.
  • Understand the necessity of following the rules of behavior in an internal and an external area.
  • Assess the importance of correct instructions, and analytical thinking and expression.
  • Develop cooperation and teamwork skills.
