“Christmas Wishes from Nikos Kazantzakis: From Yesterday to Today”

With great joy, the festive educational program of the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum “Christmas Wishes from Nikos Kazantzakis: From Yesterday to Today” was successfully completed on Wednesday December 24 2025, at the Jesus Gate, filling the space with creativity, imagination, and festive spirit.

Aimed at children aged 9 and over, the educational program was designed and carried out by the Head of Educational Activities of the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum, as part of the festive events organized by the Municipality of Heraklion under the title “Christmas in the City 2025,” celebrating the city’s Venetian Walls.

Young participants traveled through time and became acquainted with Nikos Kazantzakis through photographs, objects, letters, and postcards discovered in the Museum’s new Digital Collection, “Nikos Kazantzakis Correspondence” (letters.kazantzaki.gr/en).

The children explored letters and postcards in which the author sent Christmas wishes to his loved ones. Inspired by his example, they wrote their own Christmas wishes to people dear to them.

The activity brought together the tradition of letter writing and the contemporary digital era in an experiential and joyful way, highlighting the power of literature as a living experience and encouraging children’s creative expression.
