International Museum Day 2025
«The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities»
To celebrate International Museum Day 2025, the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum will offer free admission to all visitors on Sunday, May 18, inviting everyone to explore the Museum and learn more about the life and work of Nikos Kazantzakis.
As part of the celebration, the Museum will also host a free educational program titled “History Lessons with Kazantzakis” on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in its Permanent Exhibition space (the program is availiable only in the greek language).
This program is designed for families, specifically targeting youth aged 13 to 18 and their parents, and participation is free of charge, though pre-registration is required due to limited availability. The initiative gives a voice to teenagers, encouraging them to engage with the Museum through the use of modern digital tools.
The aim of the program is for participants to engage with the literary work of Nikos Kazantzakis and, through selected novels, to explore the historical and social context of the era in which the author lived. By collecting information from the Museum’s exhibits, they will create their own podcast, developing the script through which they themselves will deliver “History Lessons with Kazantzakis.” By revisiting a past that may seem distant, and with the help of new technologies, we can “build” the future.
Participants will be introduced to the methodology involved in creating a podcast and will produce their own, which will be hosted on the Museum’s Educational Portal and made available to the general public.
No prior knowledge of specialized applications or technological equipment is required to participate. A core principle of the program’s design is the use of technology that is easily accessible to everyone and does not demand pre-existing technical expertise.
Advance registration is required as places are limited.
For more information and to register, please contact the Museum (Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.).
